V55LH - Namibia (Diaz Point Lighthouse)

First Activation of Diaz Point Lighthouse

The Diaz Point Lighthouse will be activated during the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend (ILLW) 2026 by members of the RadioActiveGroup Namibia.

RadioActiveGroup is a community of passionate Namibian amateur radio operators dedicated to promoting amateur radio and radio sport.

The group is not a separate organization from the Namibian Amateur Radio League (NARL). Instead, its mission is to encourage active on-air participation through contesting, Field Days, the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend (ILLW), and other amateur radio activities. The team is frequently active using the contest callsigns V55A and V55J.

The upcoming operation from Diaz Point Lighthouse marks the first-ever activation of this lighthouse. The team is excited to be QRV from this spectacular location on the edge of the Namib Desert.

The team will be QRV on all HF bands from 10 through 80 meters, using a variety of operating modes.

The lighthouse carries the ILLW reference NA-004.
