It's big, and a little weird. Sunspot 4246 has grown rapidly into one of the largest sunspots of Solar Cycle 25. Moreover, it has an unusual mixed-polarity magnetic field, shown in this Oct. 14th magnetic map from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory: Most sunspots have a simple or magnetic configuration, like that of an ordinary bar magnet. 5K0UA - San Andres Isl.
5K0UA Update (Oct 18) Day 2 on the Island – Progress & Challenges We’ve made solid progress today: three WARC antennas are up and running, and the 5-Band Spiderbeam is fully assembled on the ground—ready to be raised tomorrow. 💪 Unfortunately, we’re facing some serious local QRN—S9+10 across the bands.
