Get ready for an out-of-this-world operating experience! 🌌
The Northern Arizona DX Association (NADXA) is proud to present our 6th Annual W7P Pluto Discovery Anniversary Special Event, taking place February 14–22.
Join us on the air as we celebrate the discovery of Pluto with an unforgettable operating event! We’ll be transmitting live from the historic Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, the very place where Pluto was discovered. We are also honored to welcome our special guest Doug Tombaugh (N3PDT)—nephew of Pluto’s discoverer, Clyde Tombaugh—along with his team operating from the Kansas City area.
Due to Flagstaff’s heavy winter snowfall (over 100 inches annually), some of our members will also be operating as W7P/P from their home QTHs, both in and out of state, ensuring strong on-air coverage throughout the event.
This is your chance to be part of radio history! Fellow hams are invited to visit our communications trailer at Lowell Observatory, stop by to say hello, and even get on the air to make QSOs from this iconic location. Imagine operating from the birthplace of Pluto’s discovery!
Stations available during the event:
Kenwood TS-590 — SSB
Elecraft K-3 — SSB & CW
Yaesu FT-991 — FT8
For more information, look up the W7P callsign on QRZ.com. If you’d like to operate one of our stations during the event, please contact Bob (NF7E) at Bob6315@erthlink.net to schedule your operating slot.
Don’t miss this stellar opportunity to connect, celebrate, and make history on the airwaves. We look forward to hearing you on the bands!
Thanks and 73,
Bob Wertz, NF7E
