OR81NUTS (Special Event) - Belgium

Commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, members of the UBA Section Bruxelles-Est (ON5UB) will be on the air as OR81NUTS from 13 to 31 December.

The special callsign’s suffix, “NUTS”, references General Anthony C. McAuliffe’s famous one-word reply to a German surrender ultimatum during the Siege of Bastogne.

Operations will take place on HF, CW, and SSB.

The Battle of the Bulge was the last major German offensive on the Western Front in World War II, taking place from 16 December 1944 to 25 January 1945, with the Siege of Bastogne occurring in December 1944.
