OJ0JR & OJ0YL - Market Reef

Two familiar callsigns will once again be on the air from one of the Baltic Sea's most remote and challenging operating locations—Märket Reef (OJ0).


More rock than island and more sea than shelter, Märket is a place where every DXpedition begins long before the first CQ. Success depends on favorable weather, safe landing conditions, reliable power, sturdy antennas, and the ability to operate in a harsh environment shaped by relentless wind and waves.


From August 15–22, 2026, Henri (OJ0JR) and Anne (OJ0YL) plan to activate this rare OJ0 DXCC entity, giving DXers around the world another opportunity to add Märket Reef to their logs.


Located in the middle of the Baltic Sea, Märket offers an exceptional operating environment. Its flat granite surface, unobstructed saltwater horizon, and excellent takeoff angles make it ideal for HF propagation. However, reaching the reef is never guaranteed. Access is planned via Finland, and all operations will depend on weather and sea conditions.

Propagation predictions are available through VOACAP and ITU-R HF Propagation, providing band-by-band forecasts, sunrise and sunset times for Märket Reef, and path predictions to your QTH. These tools are especially useful for planning low-band openings and identifying the best times to work OJ0.


If internet connectivity permits, Club Log uploads will be available in near real time. Otherwise, logs will be updated several times each day. OQRS will open after the DXpedition concludes.


This operation represents another excellent opportunity to work one of Europe's smallest, rarest, and most weather-exposed DXCC entities.
