LU1WGB/Z - South Orkney Isl. (Base Orcadas)

Gabriel (LU1WGB) is currently active as LU1WGB/Z from the Joint Antarctic Base Orcadas on Laurie Island, part of the South Orkney Islands (AN-008). This historic Argentine scientific station holds the distinction of being the oldest permanent settlement in Antarctica.

His operation runs through February 22, using FT8 mode on a QRP SDR transceiver with a simple dipole antenna. Great chance for DXers to log a rare Antarctic contact—keep an ear out!
