In 1972, a determined group of amateur radio operators organized the KC4DX DXpedition to Navassa Island, one of the rarest and most coveted DXCC entities at the time. Facing significant challenges such as difficult landing conditions, isolation, and strict access regulations, the team successfully established operations and made history.
The operators for the 1972 DXpedition were: K4FW, W4QM, K0DG, W4OX, WA4FFW, WA4YBV, and WA4KMA.
Operating under the callsign KC4DX, the team activated Navassa Island primarily on HF bands, using the best equipment available at the time and running round-the-clock operations. They managed to log thousands of QSOs, offering a once-in-a-lifetime contact to many around the world.
The 1972 KC4DX activation remains a legendary event in the history of DXpeditions — a shining example of the adventurous spirit and dedication of amateur radio operators.
