AO750SJ (Special Event) - Spain

The Local Section of the Unión de Radioaficionados Españoles in Alcoy (EA5URL), together with the Radio Club Comarcal de Alcoy, will be active with the special callsign AO750SJ to commemorate the 750th Anniversary of the Patronage of Saint George in Alcoy.

This historic celebration will take place from April 6 to April 26, 2026.

📜 Historical Significance

This milestone holds great importance for the city of Alcoy. The Patronage of Saint George dates back to 1276 and marks the origin of the renowned Moors and Christians Festival, officially recognized as an event of International Tourist Interest.

In 2026, the celebration will also coincide with a Jubilee Year granted in honor of this historic anniversary.

📡 Bands & Modes

During the 21-day activity, AO750SJ will be active on:

Bands:160, 80, 60, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, and 6 meters

Modes:SSB, FM, CW, FT8, FT4, RTTY, and PSK31

🎯 The goal is to encourage maximum international participation across as many bands and modes as possible.

🏆 Commemorative Awards

A special 750th Anniversary Award will be available in digital format only.

• 🥉 Bronze: 8 QSOs on different bands and/or modes

• 🥈 Silver: 12 QSOs on different bands and/or modes

• 🥇 Gold: 15 QSOs on different bands and/or modes

  
  

📌 Only one QSO per band and mode will count between each participant and AO750SJ.

To mark this historic event, Special Ranking Awards will be granted to the top-performing participants.
