8R7X Update (Jan 27)
8R7X is now approved by the ARRL for DXCC credits and an LOTW certificate has been issued to QSL Manager M0OXO.
This is a reminder that the team will upload their logs to LOTW as often as possible throughout the DXpedition FREE OF CHARGE. Any outstanding logs will be uploaded immediately on the teams return home.
The team also intends to utilise Clublog’s live stream feature through the duration of the DXpedition depending on their internet connectivity.
Where to report your missing QSO?
Please raise a ticket using M0OXO’s OQRS as shown in the picture. Enquiries should be sent only using OQRS and NOT via email.

8R7X Update (Jan 20)
The 8R – Guyana 2024 project is thrilled to announce a major achievement as the Guyanese Telecommunications Authority assigns them the special callsign 8R7X for the duration of their activity. After originally given a longer callsign, this is a big step for the project to smooth the operating process.
Furthermore, it can be said that all necessary paperwork has been finalized to ensure smooth travels and operations for the whole team.
Right now, the team is busy testing final pieces of their equipment. The antennas, a crucial part of the project, are already packed and ready to go.
The team will gather in Miami, Florida – USA, on February 12th, 2024, before flying to Georgetown, Guyana. On the day after, they plan to set up their equipment in this beautiful South American location.
Starting from February 14th and running until February 24th, the 8R – Guyana 2024 team will be on the air. They’ll be operating on various frequencies and modes covering 160m – 6m (no license for 5.3 MHz), connecting with DXer’s around the world.
For QSL management, the team has enlisted the services of Charles Wilmott M0OXO, who will handle all QSL requests through his bespoken OQRS system. Upon working the team, operators can expect to receive a LOTW confirmation immediately after the DXPedition has concluded, or even throughout the course of the DXPedition. Further, a real time log is planned via Clublog. Though, both items are depending on internet access at their location. The team is dedicated to providing seamless QSL experience and will make every effort to ensure that all contacts are confirmed in a timely manner.
The whole team is excited and saying, “We’re so happy to have the special callsign 8R7X, with a never ever activated prefix, secured and are working hard to provide it for everyone worldwide. Many thanks to our local contact for ensuring a smooth process. The whole project is all about teamwork, dedication, and our shared passion for this awesome hobby. We invite everyone to join us on this adventure. Also a big kudos to all sponsors for being a part of the journey.”
